Playing Games?

September 25, 2012 Leave a comment

Yes, I have been playing games. I know it’s been a while for any type of update here on Player 2 but I’m back to do a little chit chatting about what I’ve been playing and some of my impressions on them. In my last post I’ve said I was really excited about Darksiders 2. How did that turn out? What else have I been playing? Also, I’ll give some WiiU thoughts from a person who doesn’t like Nintendo really at all. Keep reading for one of my first updates in weeks.

Call of Duty Black Ops 2 First Multiplayer Trailer Revealed

The first game play trailer from Black Ops 2’s multiplayer is finally upon us. I don’t know why but these videos always pump me up. What can I say, I just love me some Call of Duty online action. Opening thoughts on the video are this; I can easily see myself rage throwing my controller over some of those kill streaks, but I’m excited to use them. Enjoy the madness below and let us know what you think. I personally can’t wait to get my hands on this.

Rumor: PlayStation All-Stars Details Leaked

PSAS
A series of images have been revealed on Reddit and NeoGAF claiming to be leaks of characters from PlayStation All-Stars. The playable characters list consists of: Ratchet (Ratchet & Clank), Sackboy (LittleBigPlanet), Spike (Ape Escape), Sir Daniel Fortesque (MediEvil), Nariko (Heavenly Sword), Dante (Ninja Theorys Devil May Cry) and Raiden (Metal Gear Solid).

Even though I’m a big fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, I didn’t enjoy much of Raidens presence in Sons of Liberty and Guns of Patriots, however, with Solid Snake being in Super Smash Bros, I’d be fine with Raiden. Nariko presence should be a must, being one of the few female characters that stand out in the PlayStation family, and generally speaking, one in a few female characters that actually carry an interesting story. The list reveals a good amount of characters, but I think we can all agree there is still plenty of characters Sony can still use. Which character would you like to add to the list?

FFXIII Versus still in development

Square Enix CEO, Yoichi Wada, confirmed via Twitter that Final Fantasy XIII Versus is still in development. It wasn’t until last week that rumors kicked off reporting the project was canned. Now we can all put this to rest but for the mean time, I’ll leave you with a fun question. What will be released first? The Last Guardian or Final Fantasy XIII Versus?

Malicious arrives on the PS3

Malicious, developed by Alvion, will be released exclusively on the PlayStation Network later today. Malicious gets you right into the action, featuring a Mega Man like aspect which you select a stage and defeat a boss, gaining new weapons and building powers.  Malicious will be available later today for $9.99. However, you can purchase the game at a 20% discount if you are a PS+ member until August 7th. The PSN will also be updated with Malicious avatars and themes, which I’m hoping will be appealing. It’s been a long time since I’ve changed my PS3 theme… Considering the price, it looks like I will be checking this game out.

Also there has been no word about the PSVita version. Malicious was first announced for the PS3 but an announcement of a Vita port was followed by the success in Japan. I wouldn’t get my hopes up thinking you can play the Vita version later today. The Vita version is suppose to be a port with additional content, so it’s going to be awhile before the release. It will be interesting to see how they treat the Vita version, will you be able to download the Vita version at a discounted price if you purchased the PS3 version? Hopefully soon we’ll find out.

Gravity Rush Gets Preorder Bonuses

Thinking about buying Gravity Rush on the PSN? You might want to reconsider. Gravity Rush will be hitting stores on June 12. Participating retailers will be offering exclusive content if you pre-order it. This is rather disappointing news as I just recently convinced my self to go full digital with the PS Vita. Nonetheless, my copy has been pre-ordered.

Along with your copy you’ll receive the Military DLC Pack featuring two extra side missions, two new challenge missions and a military-themed costume for Kat, the protagonist. You won’t be able to access the two extra missions until you have completed Episode 17 of the main story. As for the two challenge missions, they won’t be accessible until you’ve completed Episode 8 and 11 of the main game.

Japan received other packs of DLC. Each pack consists of one costume, two side missions and three challenge missions. The DLC packs that haven’t been reported coming to other territories that Japan recently received are the Cat Suite Pack, School Uniform Pack, and Maid Costume Pack. Let’s all cross our fingers and hope we get to witness them all.

Oh, and is it too late to ask for Kat to appear in this so-called “PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale” game? Make it happen, Sony.

Still Alive

You’ll have to excuse our brief hiatus. Life has a funny way of interfering with our most carefully laid plans, which is something each of us here can attest to: Andy’s recently enrolled himself in a community college (and rediscovered the joys of daily homework assignments); Jordan’s been busy at work; I’m recovering from a particularly nasty case of writer’s block (which completely affected my ability to produce any work, much to the chagrin of my ‘dojo compatriots); and Brian’s…well, Brian.

But we’re back now, and we have quite a few interesting things in store for you guys: I’ll be writing some impressions of the PSN sensation, Journey; Brian will be keeping a journal of his thoughts on Xenoblade Chronicles (as will I once my copy of the game arrives in the mail); I’ll be compiling a round table of predictions for Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 (with a special contribution from Serebii of Serebii.net); and Andy and I will collaborate on a review of Trine 2. Expect to see these articles (and more!) in the coming months.

And if that wasn’t enough, I’ll also be heading to E3 this June with a colleague of mine from Nintendojo. While the majority of my coverage will be for them (which I’ll inevitably pimp on here), I’ll do my best to sneak in some other impressions exclusively for Player-2. If there’s a particular game any of you are interested in, let me know and I’ll keep an eye out for it on the show floor!
