Summer Gaming – A Kingdom of Boredom

The Walking Dead: Episode 2 – To chop or not to chop?

Here I am deep into the summer with one major problem. There  has been nothing of enjoyment to play. Honestly, it’s the time of the year where I seem to have the most free time, yet no games are out. I played the next chapter in The Walking Dead but beyond that its slim pickings. So, what I’ve been trying to do is play games which have been on awesome summer deals that I skipped over during the busier times. I’m going to talk about them, and mostly how I’m happy I didn’t pay full price because I simply cannot get into anything. It’s becoming frustrating, but I’ll give some impressions on things anyway.

Rumor: PlayStation All-Stars Details Leaked

PSAS
A series of images have been revealed on Reddit and NeoGAF claiming to be leaks of characters from PlayStation All-Stars. The playable characters list consists of: Ratchet (Ratchet & Clank), Sackboy (LittleBigPlanet), Spike (Ape Escape), Sir Daniel Fortesque (MediEvil), Nariko (Heavenly Sword), Dante (Ninja Theorys Devil May Cry) and Raiden (Metal Gear Solid).

Even though I’m a big fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, I didn’t enjoy much of Raidens presence in Sons of Liberty and Guns of Patriots, however, with Solid Snake being in Super Smash Bros, I’d be fine with Raiden. Nariko presence should be a must, being one of the few female characters that stand out in the PlayStation family, and generally speaking, one in a few female characters that actually carry an interesting story. The list reveals a good amount of characters, but I think we can all agree there is still plenty of characters Sony can still use. Which character would you like to add to the list?

FFXIII Versus still in development

Square Enix CEO, Yoichi Wada, confirmed via Twitter that Final Fantasy XIII Versus is still in development. It wasn’t until last week that rumors kicked off reporting the project was canned. Now we can all put this to rest but for the mean time, I’ll leave you with a fun question. What will be released first? The Last Guardian or Final Fantasy XIII Versus?

Malicious arrives on the PS3

Malicious, developed by Alvion, will be released exclusively on the PlayStation Network later today. Malicious gets you right into the action, featuring a Mega Man like aspect which you select a stage and defeat a boss, gaining new weapons and building powers.  Malicious will be available later today for $9.99. However, you can purchase the game at a 20% discount if you are a PS+ member until August 7th. The PSN will also be updated with Malicious avatars and themes, which I’m hoping will be appealing. It’s been a long time since I’ve changed my PS3 theme… Considering the price, it looks like I will be checking this game out.

Also there has been no word about the PSVita version. Malicious was first announced for the PS3 but an announcement of a Vita port was followed by the success in Japan. I wouldn’t get my hopes up thinking you can play the Vita version later today. The Vita version is suppose to be a port with additional content, so it’s going to be awhile before the release. It will be interesting to see how they treat the Vita version, will you be able to download the Vita version at a discounted price if you purchased the PS3 version? Hopefully soon we’ll find out.

Spec Ops: The Line Review

Spec Ops: The Line is a squad based third person shooter. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? How this game is different though is that it promises a much deeper story than your typical military shooter. Hard moral choices and the darker parts of warfare are what is supposed to set this game apart from the crop. How does this ambitious route on your typical military third person shooter play out? Spec Ops: The Line delivers on the promise of story, and provided an enjoyable gameplay experience with a new environment as well.
